Vijay Siva, Vocal: Vijay Siva, a torch bearer of the D.K. Pattammal/D.K. Jayaraman
This is the first concert by Vijay Siva for SRUTI
although he has given privately arranged performances in this area.
R.K. Shriramkumar, Violin: Shriramkumar is the grandson of the veteran violinist ‘Sangita
Kalaratna’ Shri R.K. Venkatrama Sastri.
He learnt initially under Smt Savitri Satyamurthy, later was trained by his grandfather. He had
advanced guidance from the famed violinist Professor V.V. Subramanyam. He also studied vocal music with Sangita
Kalanidhi Late Shri D.K. Jayaraman. He
has accompanied foremost musicians like Semmangudi, M.S. Subbulakshmi, D.K.
Pattammal, D.K. Jayaraman, T. Brinda, K.V. Narayanaswamy, T.V.
Sankaranarayanan, T.N. Seshagopalan, N. Ramani, and M. Balamuralikrishna. He has also given many solo violin concerts. A much sought after violinist in the music
world of India today, Shriramkumar, at a very young age, has reached a high
level of proficiency and stature.
Shriramkumar has toured many countries including US, UK, Canada,
Malaysia, Muscat, France, Holland, Switzerland, and Australia. Shriramkumar has performed for SRUTI with
many artists.
J. Vaidyanathan, Mridangam: A scion of a famous musical family, Vaidyanathan
is the son of Sangitha Kalanidhi Late Shri D.K.Jayaraman. He had advanced training from Sangitha
Kalanidhi, Shri. T.K.Murthy. Recipient of several prizes and awards,
Vaidyanathan has accompanied many famous musicians of an earlier generation
such as Smt. M.S. Subbalakshmi, Smt. D.K. Pattammal, Smt. M.L. Vasanthakumari, Shri D.K.Jayaraman, Shri S. Ramanathan, Shri K.V. Narayanaswamy,
Shri B.Rajam Iyer, Shri T.N.Krishnan, Shri M.S.Gopalakrishnan. He now regularly
accompanies many top ranking artists of S. India. He has given performances in U.S.A., USSR,
Singapore, Muscat Mauritius, Australia. This is his fifth U.S. and Canada tour.
SRUTI audience have heard Vaidyanathan on a number of occasions, the latest
with Smt. Aruna Sairam in 2003.
