About Aparna Balaji - Vocal:
B
Aparna Balaji hails from a family of musicians. This legacy is complemented by her dedication and sincerity towards the art. Ever eager and earnest to learn, Aparna's music has been meticulously shaped by her grandfather "Acharya Choodamani" Shri. O.V.Subramanian, her father "Sangeetha Choodamani" Shri. O.S.Thiagarajan, uncle "Kalaimamani" O.S.Arun, and guru "Isai Peroli" Shri. Neyveli R.Santhanagopalan, stalwarts in the world of Carnatic music in their own respect, who found in her a discerning student.
  A firm believer of giving back to the music community, Aparna has been an active and much sought after performer and teacher for the past fifteen years. Concerts, playback tracks and music albums featuring Aparna bear testimony to this.
   She is the recipient of the title, “Ilam Isai Mamani", "Best vocalist" award at various music organizations including Indian fine arts society , Chennai. She is also the recipient of "Award of excellence for performing arts" by Lokvani, Boston, MA.

About A.R.Balaskandan - Violin:
B
A.R. Balaskandan is a performer and teacher of Carnatic Violin. He began his basic training in both Violin and Mridangam at the age of six. He received his formal training in Violin from Sri. Sarweswara Sarma and obtained his teaching degree. He has been under the guidance of Smt. T. Rukmini of Chennai for the last 12 years.. He is a disciple of Guru Karaikudi R Mani on Mridangam.
Balaskandan is based in Manhattan and performs and teaches in the tri-state area. He has accompanied established international artists and dancers and has performed in prestigious venues including the Lincoln Center, Juilliard School of music, Smithsonian Institute, Krishna Gana Sabha and the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
Balaskandan is the founder and lead artist of Akshara, a Carnatic inspired band based in NY.

About P.Sivakumar - Mridangam:
B
Dr.P.Sivakumar is an accomplished Mridangam player and teacher with over twenty years of concert experience. He had his early training under Kumbakkonam Shri T.V.Balu. He then underwent advanced training under the renowned Mridangam maestro, Guruvayur Sri Dorai, who is a direct disciple of the legendary Pazhani Subramania Pillai.
The “Pazhani” percussion school is known for some unique rhythmic patterns (solkattus and korvais) that are intricately structured yet appear deceptively simple.
Dr.Sivakumar has provided percussion support for several vocal, instrumental and dance programs in India and in the United States. He has performed at the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, SRUTI PA, accompanied several leading and upcoming musicians, and played in dance recitals with the Dhananjayans.
He is also skilled at playing the Kanjira and the Dholak.

Dr.Sivakumar holds a PhD in Biotechnology and is an accomplished scientist in the pharmaceutical sector. Dr.Sivakumar trains students in the greater Philadelphia area through his school, Hamsanadam School of Music.
