Ehren Hanson, a disciple of Pandit Anindo Chaterjee, will provide harmonium accompaniment. Arif Khan was born on the 16th of March 1986. As a child prodigy in a family of great musicians whose heritage goes back to the 11th century A.D of “MIR AKASA” lineage. Arif is one of the youngest amongst the renowned tabla players of India, and at a young age his incredible dexterity, richness, superb tonal quality and maturity surprise any listener or connoisseur of music of the same time. Father Ustad Sabir Khan, grand father late Ustad Karamatullah Khan, and great-grand father late Ustad Masit Khan are the most celebrated tabla maestros in the history of Classical Music. Arif, after his father, Ustad Sabir khan is the only living heir and the sole representative of the famous “Farukkabad Gharana” which was confounded by late Haji Ustad Vilayat Hussain Khan Sahab, his son late Ustad Nessar Khan, who produced the student like Ustad Munir Khan, his students late Ustad Ahmedjan Thirakwa Khan Sahab and late Ustad Amir Hussain Khan Sahab. Arif is the 34th descendent of this unbroken lineage. Arif Khan received intensive rigorous Talim from his father. At the age of 6 his first remarkable performance was a unforgettable one, in which he gave his solo performance with Ustad Sabir Khan at Behala {Calcutta} in front of thousands. Since then he has been performing classical and fusion music in various countries. Ehren Hanson, a musician from his early childhood, began playing percussion at age 14. Soon after, he discovered the Tabla, and has been an addict ever since. In 2000, he was accepted as a disciple by the great Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, and has been learning from him to date. He graduated from Bard College where he studied music composition in 2002. In 2005 he received the "Senior Performing Arts Fellowship" from the Institute for Indian Studies with which he spent the next two years in Kolkata. He now lives in Brooklyn, NYC and performs often with his group, the Tollywood All-Stars (www.tollywoodallstars.com).
