SRUTI is pleased to present a Carnatic vocal concert by Kruthi Bhat,  accompanied by Vittal Rangan on the Violin, B Sivaraman on the Mridangam & G Chandrasekhara Sharma on the Ghatam.  

Kruthi Bhat (Vocal)

Kruthi Bhat is a prodigious vocalist, and hails from a family of musicians. Kruthi is a disciple of her mother, Vidushi Rajarajeshwary Bhat & maternal uncle Vidwan Vittal Ramamurthy. She also had the privilege to learn from the legendary Padma Bhushan Sri Lalgudi G. Jayaraman and Sri T. R. Subramanyan.

Kruthi Bhat is a graded All India Radio artist.  She has performed at Prestigious venues and has won several titles and awards including “Kala Ratna” by Cleveland Thyaragaraja Aradhana Committee, “Isai Chudar” from Karthik Fine Arts Chennai, “Yuva Kala Mani” from Mani Krishna Swamy Academy, the “Best Female Vocalist” award from the Madras Music Academy.  She was the winner of the reality Show, “Carnatic Music Idol USA”, and “Best Vocalist” award by Sri Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, Chennai.

Kruthi is a Computer Science graduate, proficient in Western & Indian Classical violin, Bharatnatyam and Pastel/Acrylic Painting.

Vittal Rangan (Violin)

A young, acclaimed violinist, Vittal Rangan is well known for his flair for extrinsic ideas without compromising on the traditional aesthetics. Starting at the age of 8, he had his initial violin lessons from Late Vidwan R. R. Keshava Murthy, and later from Sangeetha Kalanidhi A Kanyakumari. Vittal is an ‘A’ graded violinist of the All India Radio, and a recipient of several awards including Shanmukhananda “Sangeetha Shiromani” award, “Lavanya Shruti Nipuna” award from Puvanur Legacy Trust, and “Best Concert Award” from the Music Academy for 3 consecutive years.Vittal has carved a niche for himself as an accompanist, as well as a fine solo performer. He has accompanied his guru and senior musicians. Vittal has performed extensively around the world.

B Sivaraman (Mridangam)

B. Sivaraman hails from a musical family and is the son of Late Sethalapathy Sri S.R. Balasubramanian, a disciple of legendary Tamil composer Sri Papanasam Sivan. At an early age, he was able to reproduce the “Sorkattu” played by great doyens with ease. He received initial training from Kumbakonam Sri M. Rajappa Iyer, and advanced training under Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr. T.K. Murthy. An ‘A’ graded artist on All India Radio, Sivaraman has been the recipient of several awards and has performed extensively in India and abroad.

G Chandrasekara Sharma (Ghatam)

Chandrasekara Sharma, a Ghatam artist and Vocalist, hails from an illustrious family of Carnatic musicians. His father, Shri. T. H. Gurumurthy is a veteran Carnatic violinist, his uncle Shri. T H ‘Vikku’ Vinayakram is a legendary Ghatam Vidwan.  

Chandrasekara Sharma initially started learning Ghatam from his uncle Sri. T.H. Subash Chandran. He has played with senior musicians including Shri T.K Murthy, Shri. Guruvayur Dorai, Shri. Thiruvarur Bhakthavatsalam. He has also given his contribution to Cinema Music Albums and TV serials.

Chandrasekara Sharma is also a professional vocalist, and a disciple of Sri Vijay Siva & Sri R K Shriramkumar.
